Mindfulness and Emotion Regulation—an fMRI study

Its fairly easy for me to stay on track when it comes to healthy living and physical workout routines. I can also get quite disciplined and focused in business and intellectual pursuits. I love diving into spirituality and nature walks. Emotional balance, however, has at times been the hardest for me to achieve. Can you guys relate?

Following years of research, professional studies and personal quest to feel more centered, I’ve arrived at a powerful way of working through emotions, deepening connection with myself and staying motivated no matter what happens. The key to my method is an experiential, healing and holistic approach that is based on using elements of meditation, mindfulness and energy therapy for deep emotional work.

I also hear from a lot of my clients that cognitive approach alone has not been 100% successful, they long for a more experiential body, mind, heart and soul practice. This is where my approach proves to be very helpful and powerful.

Recently, a Mindfulness and Emotion Regulation—an fMRI study came out that fully supports my approach.

According to this study, mindfulness could have an emotion-regulating effect in every-day emotional situations. Study’s findings suggested emotion regulatory effects of a short mindfulness (attentive non-judgmental focus on experiences in the here and now) intervention on a neurobiological level.

Previously conducted Harvard Mindfulness Studies also highlight the importance of mindfulness in one’s life.

Neuroscientists have also shown that practicing mindfulness affects brain areas related to perception, body awareness, pain tolerance, emotion regulation, introspection, complex thinking, and sense of self. Mindfulness is a must have to keep our brains healthy, to support self-regulation and effective decision-making capabilities, and to protect ourselves from toxic stress.

Incredible, right? And I believe it’s just the beginning of humanity diving deeper into meditation to achieve better connection with self and other, emotional balance etc. Please reach out if you have any questions and book your free 20 minute consultation today.
